The North York Moors and the adjacent coastline provide every different type of fishing location that an angler could hope for. If sea fishing is your thing, it is fully legal to fish off the coast without a licence or permit, or try deep sea fishing from a boat out of Scarborough, Staithes, Whitby and Sandsend. To fresh water inland does require a licence but this can be obtained easily from post offices or the EA web site. The region contains some fantastic reservoirs, lakes and rivers. Trout fans can visit Pickering Trout Lake or Lockwood Beck reservoir, which contain both Rainbow and Brown Trout.
