Great Houses & Halls
The North York Moors has a fair share of great houses and halls. Helmsley Walled Garden was once a private garden that belonged to a great house but is now open to the public. The gardens are spread over a 5-acre site containing many different themed flora and fauna areas and won 2009's Yorkshire in Bloom competition. Duncombe Park is perhaps the best known stately home in North Yorkshire. It was unoccupied for over 50 years but is now fully functional once again as the family home of the Dumcombes. Visitors to Duncombe can enjoy shopping, a bite to eat in the tearooms, a stroll around the walled gardens and an internal tour of the house.
