Whitby Harbour

Whitby

As you would expect from a town which has thrived from the fishing industry since the 12 Century there's no shortage of shops selling fresh fish and no visit to Whitby would be complete with out a visit to the award-winning Fortune Kipper Shop to try some of the world famous oak smoked kippers. If you'd prefer to catch your own the River Esk is close by for salmon fishing and visitors can also partake in angling or shore fishing. As for eating out Whitby has a welcome variety, from the expected fish and chips, cafes & tea rooms to more upmarket restaurants and pubs.
