Fancy a walk - make it round York!

The City of York is one place where you can guarantee to find plenty of interesting things to see and do, but there are not many places with so many different walks to try out that you are spoiled for choice - and most of it is free! Get the family out and about and keep fit at the same time on some of these well trodden paths.

Walking is one of the best and most enjoyable ways to get fit and appreciate your surroundings whatever the weather and York has many walks leading visitors through the City and taking in all its sights. There are numerous delightful buildings in and around this ancient place and the architecture alone is well worth the trip.

If it's something spine chilling that floats your boat there are guided ghost and spirit walks which are sure to fit the bill. Explore the little alleyways and hidden courtyards on your own, or if you prefer to learn as you go there is no shortage of well narrated walking tours which offer all the sights and the fascinating facts from the history of the Vikings to the present day.

Take a ramble down The Shambles and seek out the quirky shops and street markets or find your own piece of heaven in one of the many cafes and tea shops whilst you rest your feet and watch the world go by!.
