Goathland Station, the change will make your heart beat

Goathland which in itself is a charming little village outside Whitby on Yorkshire's East Coast has also been brought to our attention by the television series Heartbeat and more recently of course the Harry Potter films which used this station as their "Hogsmeade Station"

The station has now been preserved in miniature by the Scarborough and District Railway Modellers Association.  It really is well worth a visit to the Pickering Model railway Exhibition on the weekend of August 22/23 at the Memorial Hall which is where the miniature station will be on display.  The modellers have really given this there all with Heartbeat's Claude Greengrass being a feature in this miniature model.

The real station master of the real station who has been a volunteer for over forty years with the North Yorkshire Moors Railway is amazed as to the likeness of the miniature to the real thing. Thirty members make up the Scarborough Railway Modellers and twice a week they meet to continue making these delightful model railways scenes.  Everything in the making of the miniature railways is given much thought, example, a lot of research goes into the planning of the model, electronics, making it look like a working station and not something brand new, it has been aged to make it look genuine as it can be.  So much time and effort goes into the making of these creations, the modellers really do deserve your support and appreciation

The Goathland Railway will be one of ten wonderful miniature railway replicas on display that weekend.  The beauty of course is that with Goathland you can visit the miniature, marvel at all its intricacies and then go and see the real live version just a hop, skip and a jump away.

For a glorious day out, make your way to Goathland near Whitby.
