The North York Moors is an area of wonderfully wild and windswept fertile moorland, covered by an array of grasses, stunning purple heather and a great variety of plants which all contribute to the superb quality of the local produce to be found here.

On the hills around Scarborough sheep graze lazily on the heather clad moors, feeding on a wide range of naturally occurring plant life including heather, bog myrtle and bilberry which produces a most distinctively flavoured meat.
