Castle Howard is one of the most magnificent 18th century stately homes in the country. It is situated amidst stunning parkland and surrounded by exquisite gardens. Visitors can choose to take a guided tour of the house, or take time to explore for themselves.
Today Castle Howard is home to the Hon. Simon and Mrs Howard and their children Merlin and Octavia. Visit the house and enjoy the dramatic 18th century interiors Listen to our friendly and knowledgeable guides as they relay tales from the previous generations who have lived in the house.
In the grounds be swept away by the scale and beauty of Castle Howard's monumental landscape, which offers spectacular views at every turn. With hundreds of acres to explore, there are endless corners to discover and a huge variety of ways for visitors to spend their time.

Head Gardener Brian Deighton and his team make sure visitors have something to enjoy all year in the grounds and gardens.
Visit over the winter months and your family can enjoy exhilarating walks in our breathtaking gardens. Children can also let off steam down at the adventure playground and discover the gardens with our illustrated trail. Afterwards warm up with homemade seasonal food and drink in our cafés, or take home some delicious teatime treats from the Farm Shop.
The Farm Shop, gifts shops and garden centre remain open daily, offering relaxed shopping in a beautiful location.
