Details: The Coast to Coast walk is a 190 mile journey from St. Bees on the west coast of England through some of the UK's most stunning countryside in three of England’s finest national parks; including the Lake District, the Yorkshire Dales and the North Yorkshire Moors before ending on the Eastern Coast at Robin Hoods Bay. It is one of the most popular long distance walks in the country and should take between 11 to 15 days depending on your exact chosen route.

The Coast to Coast Walk was originally devised by Alfred Wainright (a well know author of mountain walking books on the Lake District) and hence is often reffered to as Wainrights Way or Wainrights Coast to Coast Walk.

Along the route you will pass through a variety of landscapes and stunning surroundings in each of the national parks. In the first section of the walk you will see stunning lakes and rugged mountains in the Lake District. You will pass throught tranquil Lakeland valleys such as Patterdale, Grasmere and Borrowdale, Englands most popular mountain Mount Helvellyn and Ullswater Lake.

The next section of the walk offers a more gentle terrain around Shap and Orton. Pass the market town of Kirky Stephen and enter the second national park, the Yorkshire Dales offers rolling hills and beautiful valleys. The route passes through the valley of swaledale with its idyllic villages and dry stone walls. The coast to coast walk continues along until Richmond a traditional market town with cobbled streets and famous castle above the River Swale.

The third sections of the walk is the toughest part as you pass through the arable farmland of the Vale of York before it climbs to the stunning purple heather moorland of the North York Moors. Spurred on by the thought of reaching the coast this section appears to go quicker, after crossing through the wooded valley of Eskdale you reach the rugged North Sea coastline, and following the coastline North towards the beautiful Robin Hoods Bay for this final section of the walk. Relax In this idyllic seaside village with its gorgeous sandy cove or visit nearby Whitby and its ruined abbey, Captian Cook Museum or busy harbour. The fish-n-chips are just heavon on earth!!
