Details:
Filey is an elegant coastal town set in a bay in the Yorkshire Coast with in excess of five miles of sandy beach on the doorstep, and is a favourite choice for families year after year. Filey Brigg is a spit of land projecting into the sea and is one of the coast's most spectacular landmarks and also one of the north east coasts most famous sea angling marks.

With the bay being protected from by Filey Brigg, it really is the one of the most beautiful unspoilt sites on the coastline. It is a great place to come for a range of activities or alternatively just to relax and watch the local fishermen tend to their nets.

The architecture is a mix of proud Victorian houses and old fishermen's cottages, each with its own individual beauty. The town is small but extremely quaint and friendly, it is ideal for browsing that prefect gift with many unusual shops. The Folk Museum is also well worth a visit and displays include local rural life, with all aspects of Foley’s past and present covered.

If you fancy a taste of the past then get down to Filey's annual Edwardian Festival, with a friendly, traditional family feel. Held in June the festival presents a week-long look at life in bygone days, with strawberry teas, barrel organs, brass bands, Punch and Judy shows and processions, with many people dressed in period costume.

Once you visit Filey you will keep on coming back, safe in the knowledge that you will find glorious, family safe beaches and a range of entertainment and fun to suit everyone including the ever-popular Muston Scarecrow Festival and the annual Fishing Festival.

The history of Filey dates back to Victorians and Edwardians. Once a remote fishing and farming village, Filey became a select Edwardian resort and still today, with its local history museum, remains a family favourite with visitors returning year after year.
