Details:
Goathland is located on the eastern edge of Goathland Moors, in the heart of the North Yorkshire Moors National Park. It is also know as “Heartbeat” country as this is where much of the filming for the TV show Heartbeat has taken place.
It is one of the larger villages in the national park and is a bustling thriving community.
Visitors will find an array of amenities including: shops, a tea room, arts and crafts, pubs and a train station which is part of the North Yorkshire Moors Steam Railway. There is also a public bus service to the village
There are various exhibition centres to visit including Malyan Spout Waterfall, Heartbeat, and Roman Road. However Goathlands fame does not stop at here, the railway station was also used in the filming of a Harry Potter film as ‘Hogwarts Station’.
A visit to the waterfall is well worth while and can be reached via a short walk past the Spout Hotel. The pleasant walk is topped off by a spectacular view of the 70ft waterfall.

If you fancy a slightly long walk, why not try the 3.5 miles disused the railway line footpath, the original line was constructed by George Stephenson himself between Goathland and Grosmont.

Other areas of interest include Standing Stones, Ann's Cross and in Wheeldale a mile of Roman Road dating back to around the 1st century AD.
