Cleveland Hills Tourist Information

Details:
Gt Broughton is located two miles to the south of the town of Stokesley adjacent to the Cleveland hills amongst the splendour of the North Yorkshire Moors National Park. The village is located on the Cleveland way and is a great place to use as a base for exploring the North Yorkshire Moors and surrounding country side. The east coast locations such as Robin Hoods Bay, Staithes and the stunning Runswick bay are all easily accessible, with Whitby and Scarborough only a few miles further down the coast.

Another well known land mark is the formation of rocks known locally as ‘The Wainstones’ to the south of the village at Hast Bank. During the 19th century the local economy was largely dependant on Jet mining, and evidence of the drift mining which took place can still be found at Cold Moor and Hasty Bank.

Amenities include a shop, post office, bank (in the post office), public house, garden centre, and restaurant.
