Details: Located at the foot of the Hambleton Hills Kirkbymoorside is excellent base from which to explore The North Yorkshire Moors and Yorkshire's East Coastal resorts of Scarborough, Bridlington and Whitby. The market town of Pickering, terminus of the North Yorkshire Moors Steam Railway is approximately 8 miles away.

Kirkbymoorside Golf Club is famous for its breathtaking views with a challenging golf course consisting of some of the most unique holes you are ever likely to encounter. The golf club also boasts a new state of the art clubhouse, so after playing your round of golf you can enjoy the hospitality the club's friendly staff has to offer in comfortable, modern surroundings.

Kirkbymoorside is midway between Pickering and Helmsley. The Viking word ‘kirk’ means ‘church’, and ‘by’ means ‘settlement’. Hence the literal translation is ‘settlement with church’. The church which still displays some elements of both Norman and Saxon masonry is located on the high street.

In the past two different castles have been built in Kirkbymoorside and some remains of one can still be seen. It is believed that the Toll House in the market square was built using stones from one of the castles

Many good pubs and restaurants can be found in the town and good sprinkling of local shops with the customary good service and courteous treatment of their customers.
