Area: LealHolm
Region: Esk Valley
County: Yorkshire

Details:
Lealholm is a delightful village located in the centre of the North Yorkshire Moors National Park approximately 1.5 miles away from the heart of the beautiful Esk Valley with its spectacular views. Moor land sheep often wander freely around the village and by the river, adding to the countryside and peaceful ambience.

It is a small picturesque village with post office, shop, pub, tea rooms, pottery, three churches, garage and a garden centre. There are many peaceful and picturesque walks in every direction, including along the river bank. There is a good range of local accommodation plus country inns and eating places in the area.

The Esk Valley railway runs from Whitby to Middlesbrough through the moors along the Esk Valley, stopping at all villages en-route including Lealholm and makes for excellent and relaxing days out. Bustling Whitby is in particular worth a visit if only to sample ‘real’ fish and chips! The Mooreland and coastal scenery is undoubtedly some of the finest in Britain.

The village is also less than ten miles from the quaint fishing villages of Staithes, Runswick Bay and the extensive and peaceful sandy beaches of Sandsend. The latter being an excellent beach fishing venue.
