Details:
Located on the South Eastern fringe of the North Yorkshire Moors just a short drive away from the moors themselves, Scarborough is an enchanting, active seaside town which caters for the whole family. Scarborough was the UK’s first real holiday resort, with thousands flocking for their summer vacation.

Between the extensive safe and clean sandy beaches of the South and North Bays is a rocky headland on which Scarborough’s well-known medieval castle is located.

Stunning cliff tops, busy shopping centre’s and beautiful safe sandy beaches, are located only a short distance apart and are connected by the famous cliff lifts built in Victorian times. The Victorian heritage of Scarborough has left it with tremendous style with the: elegant Esplanade, the magnificent Scarborough Spa Complex and some of the finest gardens and public parks in Britain. This is backed up by the award received in 2002, for “Britain in bloom”. However that’s not their only reward as they can also boast clean beach blue flag awards and winner of the Gold Excellence in England Award 2002.

In terms of holiday activities and entertainment Scarborough has everything. For families there are the traditional sea front tours, donkey rides, Punch and Judy, the sea life centre and amusement arcades. There is also a selection of evening entertainment including; theatres, night clubs, cinemas and even a sea side orchestra. There is just too much to list here so visitors should make use of the well stocked and informative tourist information centre for further information about this very special resort.

The history of Scarborough is that of a diverse nature from Roman’s to Victorian England. The name is said to come from two Viking brothers called Kormak and Thorgils who establish the fort called “Skardaborg". The early name for what is now the town of Scarborough.

Overall, a charming and beautiful traditional sea side town, ideal for a lively holiday and opportunity.
