Details: Stokesley, an elegant market town is located at the foot of the Cleveland Hills on the River Leven, and is a small market town with a population of approximately 5000. The High Street, with West Green at one end and College Square at the other, is bounded by Regency and Georgian buildings. It lies about two miles to the North edge of the North Yorkshire Moors National Park, The north sea coast is 15 miles away.

The town is steeped in history with a many buildings from different eras and a cobbled high street which dates back to 1223. There is also a traditional market every Friday.

Notable features in the town include the ‘Mill Wheel’, believed to be on the site of a mill noted in the Doomsday book, and both the Church of St Peter and St Paul. The Pack Horse Bridge, crossing the River Leven, dates from the 17th Century.

In September each year Stokesley is the venue for the regions major one day agricultural show to which all comers are welcome. Visitors can also enjoy the facilities of the Municipal Leisure Centre, only a short walk out of town and includes a swimming pool, squash and badminton courts plus much more. The town is also an ideal location from which to explore the beautiful local countryside including the nearby North York Moors.
