Details for York Ornithological Club

The York Ornithological Club organises field trips for members and non members interested in bird watching. There are regular monthly day trips and ad hoc evening trips. A monthly indoor evening meeting also takes place.

Our organisation, like many others, is simple, made up of volunteers and is designed to carry out the functions of the Club:

- Providing a meeting point for like-minded people in the York area.
- Recording the birds in our designated Recording Area
- Publishing the results
- Giving opportunities for people of all ages and levels of skills to improve their knowledge and -    enjoyment of bird watching and share this with others.
- Membership is open to anyone who accepts the aims of the Club.

Although non-members are welcome to attend our meetings and our field trips, we do ask that people who regularly attend become members of the Club. Also, members have priority over non-members on our weekend and longer trips when space is limited.

Indoor meetings:
These are all held on Tuesdays (usually the 1st Tuesday in the month) at St Olave's Church Hall, Marygate Lane, York YO30 7BJ, starting at 7.30 pm. Meetings normally end at around 9.00 to 9.30 pm. Parking is available in the nearby Marygate car park (free to residents with the right sticker!).

Local Field Trips:
Most of these are one-day trips, on Sundays, usually just outside our recording area. Since we use cars (and try to use them efficiently), we usually meet up in the centre of York in Piccadilly, outside United House. The times vary, but we always leave promptly! Although we plan a destination in advance, this may be subject to change on the day,...
