Located just south of the North Yorkshire Moors National Park, York is a vibrant and historic city, which boasts one of the world’s most renowned buildings, York Minster. Within an hour's drive in any direction of York is some of the most beautiful and striking countryside in Europe. In particular the beautiful and peaceful North Yorkshire Moors National Park is readily accessible from York, and the Yorkshire Dales National Park is also within easy driving distance.

York itself has many historic features such as York Minster, and also the original York city wall. York Minster, which is the largest of its kind in the world, was originally constructed over a period from the 12th to the 15th Century and is the largest Gothic church in England. Views from the central tower over this beautiful city are spectacular. Underneath the Minster is The Foundations Museum, and visitors can track how the current building was originally built on the site of a Norman Cathedral, which was itself constructed on the site of a Roman Fort.

You can't stay in York without being captivated by the history of the place. From George VI, Viking to Norman and Medieval York. Whilst the Historic Buildings such as “The Shambles”, (one of the best preserved medieval streets in Europe.) “Clifford's Tower”, (13th century stone tower on an artificial mound erected by William the Conqueror), and highlights some of the many splendid buildings for the visitor to view.

York is not short of Museums, either! (York Castle Museum, National Railway Museum, the Jorvic Viking Centre). Neither is it short of ghosts! With a number of Ghost Walks regularly held in the City Centre.
