Great Ayton

Great Ayton is a large village on the edge of the North York Moors.  Once home to the famous explorer Captain Cook the village is full of historical interest and perfectly situated as a base from which to visit more of the towns in the surrounding countryside.  Visitors here can take advantage of the beautiful scenery and enjoy stunning walks stretching out over the heather clad moors. 

The River Leven runs through the centre of the village and offers visitors a delightful place to take relaxing strolls along the banks and maybe feed the ducks.  Great Ayton boasts two village greens which are ideal picnic spots in the good weather.
