The boundaries of the lovely Vale of Pickering are the North York Moors to the north, the Howardian Hills on the west side, the Yorkshire Wolds to the south while the North Sea coast from Scarborough to Filey forms the eastern side.

As the Vale is mainly flat it is very popular for cycling and walking holidays as it appeals to all levels of experience and fitness. The main town in the Vale is Pickering, a lovely and historic market town which can be found on the north edge of the Vale. Monday is market day in the town where bargains can be had. There is also Pickering Castle and the Beck Isle Museum which are great places to visit if there happens to be an odd shower or two. Steam train enthusiasts will love to take a trip on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway as far as Whitby on the east coast.

Due south of Pickering lies the town of Malton with its historic market place boasting many pubs, cafes and coffee bars. Nearby is the themed museum of Eden Camp. Visit this award winning museum to experience what it felt like to be in Britain during the Second World War.

Situated just off the A169 Malton to Pickering road is the famous theme park and zoo of Flamingo Land.
